Sorry dude, but whoever wrote that was backing an "Assault Weapon" ban, you really shouldn't quote antis on gun facts - they don't know sh*t- to dispute the claim I will simply use 2 words: Lee-Enfield. - Why? - in service for a hundred years of empire building and including both world wars, the Korean War and the Malaysian Emergency and still used as late as the early 1970's in Oman as a sniper rifle. You cannot begin to fathom how many human lives were taken with a 303 Lee Enfield, from India, Africa, the Far East, the Middle East and the fields of Europe (twice). The Kalashnikov doesn't even come close.

Seriously the stopping power of .303 british is superior to that of that puny 7.62x39. The germans thought they were fighting machine guns too so it's fast as heck! Besides bolts are more reliable and cheaper. They're still used in INDIA too!!!!
I agree. I've held but not shot an AK. I find they are robustly built but clubby and awkward feeling to me. There may be AK variants that are accurate but, going only by what I read, they don't seem to be as accurate as a CZ. But then, its all moot if most of us can't buy an AK.

at my local club i used a no.4 that has had its barrell cut down to 12" ( im in nz so its all legal to hack and chop at the barrells )
well it shook the ground when it fired, but was hitting milk bottles at 200m.

Circle 11 AK is the most desired one after the Soviet 1972 AKMS
For me the most desired is a Type 1 Russian(won't hold My breath on that)
second is a NK Type 58 and 68 (AK47 & AKM). There are at least one of each in Canada, I will get them

Tell me where I can buy an AK47 in Canada with only an RPAL, the answer to that question should tell you why Canadians love the CZ 858.
I held a VZ58 for the first time. I can't say I was very impressed with it. My Russian SKS seems to have a better feel and is built better....
I compared it to my Type 3 AK47 for some pictures.....there is NO compairson!
what is the big deal about these things anyways? Seem to me to be a bit overpriced for what you get. Flimsy mags, cheap wood stocks.....ect.

Given both rifles and the same crate of ammo, the VZ is coming with me. I too have fired thousands of rounds through AK's and 10's of thousands of rounds through my VZ. The VZ is superior in every respec but one.. aftermarket mods. But it's quickly getting there.
For all I've physically done to my rifle in terms of use, abuse and modifications, I dare say that an AK would not have taken it as well and functioned as well as this has. Shoot? yep.. But AK's get real sloppy with age, my VZ is nearly as tight as the day I got it. AK's are a spray and pray machine that enable anyone young, old, trained, ignorant to use them, the VZ is a true select fire weapon.
