Looks like an Urnetl you might of got an amazing steel. I'd get the opinion of the more experienced guys on here might just be a copy of one.

That looks like a unertl or a us optics mst 100. It is a fixed 10 power and if it is the unertl it is or was the optic used on the Canadian Forces C3a1 sniper rifle. What type of reticle does it have is it the mil dot or something else?

Thats good if it had the Canadian reticle it might have been stolen. Unertl is out of business and the contract was taken over by US optics (I think). Check out the US optics website for further specs. They only make limited runs and are a 3000.00 dollor optics if you can find one. Is there any damage to the glass? If you don't mind my asking what did you pay for it?

10 Power will take you to 1000 yards but personally I would not paint it (just me).

Ok ok. I have to say. My post was a bit of a joke. I'm not the "noob" sticking a beautiful piece of art on a stevens and spraying it all tacticool. Haha. Wanted to see how many guys were squirming in their computer chairs when I posted that. I found this at a gun show and I do know a bit of history on it however I don't "know it all". Its actually in amazing shape except for the ground down name and #'s on the side. The glass is fine and if I posted what I paid, your jaw would hit the floor. However it would be nice to get some more really experienced knowledge on these scopes. Its funny how I was thinking of putting together a C3A1 clone and then I find this.

ok so with some time, the right lighting, a magnifying glass, and some research i was able to pull up some #'s and letters on the side of the scope. looks like its a Unertl and on the side was C3 SNIPER. under that is the 4digit serial and it matches the # on the box with the tools. pretty cool to be holding one of these in my hands.

im not making any speculations if it was or was not. If it was at one point it wasn't by the lady I purchased it from. funny, I saw one for sale legally on another forum and the serial # was extremly close to the one i have. I would love to know the history of it and how exactly in got to a civi.

I only know about old, classic Unertls, but if this is one, I'm sure it is worth a lot of money, and prolly the best 10X scope ever built.

If it was me I wouldn't really be talking about a scope with the serial numbers ground off that I purchased online. But that's just me. You did make the comment that you saw one for sale legally on another forum and that makes this one look fishy too. But then again, that's just me.

I hear ya. I think for me it's more of knowing that the state of the scope that sort of tells me that it was stolen at some point thus the ground off markings. Even if it passed through a few hands it's still stolen. Mounting it on my firearm and people see the ground off markings would just cause too much attn for my book, too many questions.

...those great big scratches on the side are sooo ugly! Can't you fill them with some JB Weld and file it down a bit? Ewww...

Good looking scope otherwise. Should be just the ticket.

Good luck on your Stevens project; I know you'll have a great time here on CGN, good people, all.
