Unfortunately, there is no way at present that an AR variant can become non-restricted. The design itself is named specifically as a restricted by Order in Council.

I believe its the receiver of the AR that makes it restricted....

Is this possible? Or is the ACR and XCR about the only options available? Any help would be great guys. If not maybe ill go with a normal AR. Would be my first build.

Not possible....
Lots of other options, as you have noted, but using an variant on an AR for the receiver automatically dooms it to restricted status.
No huge loss, as I have non-restricted ACR's as well as a rebarreled Swiss Arms carbine........

Yea. I wasn't really thinking much when I titled and asked my question.. lol. I should have said un-restricted black rifle build, but a flattop.

Actually the term is non-restricted and the AR is restricted by name and anything that looks like it makes it a variant and again restricted
