i bought my first pistol about 2 month ago it is a Custom Shop CZ SP-01, it had under a 1000 rounds on it, and looked mint..
So last weekend i finally got my ATT and this weekend went to try it out..
and was very disappointed, it would FTF once every two mags or so, leaving very light print on the primer.. and then it only got worst... every 7-10 rounds
trigger would fail to release the hammer, and would function only after pressing on it 3-5 times or pulling the slide......

For those who dont know.. : Custom Shop SP-01 is a well tuned sp01, done by Angus Hobdell from CZCustom .com The things that were done to it are much lighter, creep free trigger with adjustable travel, competition hammer, front fiberoptic and rear comp. sights. also some mechanical parts were polished (possibly)..

So... any idea what could go wrong...? do the symptoms sound familiar to anyone..? I'm new to handguns, and unfortunately cant draw a better picture of the situation... i havn't done anything with the gun since i bought it... so did i get a broken gun sold to me or is it something that just could happen while being stored/ or played with...??

Please help quick solution is needed....:eek::eek:

I had the same problem where the trigger would not release the hammer, there was aprox 1000 rounds through it, my smith fixed it for under 20 bucks, some sort of spring?? Not sure what was repaired but the problem sounds familiar. CZ SP01 Shadow btw..

yup overtravel screw needs to be backed off dude. Its not letting the trigger travel far enough back to release the hammer. When it does release the sear is probably dragging on the hammer hook, slowing it down. Hold the hammer and pull the trigger, looking in the back of the gun. Move the hammer back and forth looking for clearance. There should be a small gap between the hammer and sear with the trigger fully pulled. They should not touch.

Main spring is most likely 13#, it should not cause light strikes even on CCI primers (they are the hardest), you may have gunk in piring pin channel.
FTF - try cleaning extractor claw with old toothbrush and gun cleaner.

this is what the previous owner said... :

"Competition hammer, light main spring
and 11 lb. recoil spring.
This is a match gun made for IPSC
Competitions. It's not a regular
plinking gun. It was tuned for match
ammo with a power factor of 135 for
Minor."

So i'll try Federal and Remington UMC ammo next time... hopefully it will fix the problems....

What Ceezer and Slavex said.

I linked some youtube video on taking apart the CZ 75... you're going to have to search through my past postings.

Slavex is right; it's probably your over-travel screw. The hammer sear isn't fully releasing and when it does fall, it is just squeezing its way past the sear and possibly hitting the half-#### on the way down as well. If left this way, you could sustain damage to the engagement surface of the sear.

Back the screw out until the gun functions properly. As noted above, the hammer should release cleanly and if you follow it down with your thumb you should feel no "bump" just before it hits the firing pin. Once you have it correctly set, put some lock tight on it so it won't walk in on you again.

I agree with the over-travel screw.. its also best to use loc-tite once you've decided how far it is set back without impeding function. My gf's brand new Shadow had the over-travel screw slowly work its way out over the course of 300 rounds, but that's all fixed now.
