israeli mauser made by FN in 8x57, then converted to 7.62x51 by the israelis. someone has since "sporterized" it.

Is there any information online that I can get about this rifle? It was lent to me so that I can use it as my first moose rifle.

googling a combo of "isreal fn mauser" should find a fair bit of info for you.

these 7.62mm mausers are interesting, you will find them built on rifles that range from WWI imperial german, through czech lion marked receivers and WWII german rifles, to newly made for israel receivers like yours. condition will range from beat to almost like new.
