Hello guys I'm kind of new (actually I know little if nothing) about the Mauser Karabiner 98k Rifles. I just have a quick question, maybe a dumb one too... I'm wondering if you guys can please help me identify a Karabiner 98k Rifle from the following pics:

Can you guys tell me what kind of KAR 98k Rifle this is ? Is it a Yugo or Russian Capture Rifle ? Or is it a Czech or Israel one ? Please let me know if you can tell from the pics, thanks ! :)

I copied your link address into a new window and got it to work. It is the end of SPR where the German is taking pot shots at Hanks on the bridge. The rifle is definitely a German K98 but that's about all you can tell from it. You would need to see the reciever to tell who manufactured it or who had reworked it. Looking at the stock, it doesn't appear to be an RC K98 as there is no shellac. Not to say a gun wrangler on the set couldn't have stripped that off. Heck, could even be a replica.

I do like that Russian haircut on the Soldat though, hehe....

Now I'm not an expert like Steve1973, but my Russian Capture Kar 98k had the firing pin hole (the little disc in the butt) painted black just like that one.

I have not seen an original German rifle with it's disc painted over with this paste.

When I got my R/C, I scraped it off with a key.

I'd take an educated guess and say it's in fact a russian capture. But I don't think we'll ever know. And this is all hinging upon the fact that only the russians painted that disc black.

Sorry for the link problem Potatos, can you please copy & paste it to a new browser window it should work then :)

Can you tell me Potatos, does your RC 98k Rifle have a flat or round buttplate? Also nice to meet someone also from Victoria :) I'm not really local though, just here attending UVIC :)

Cheers :dancingbanana:
