Please Help ME! 9mm or .40S&W?

If we were in the US I would say stay with the 9mm, since we have these stupid mag restriction laws in Canada you might as well go for the 40 or even 45.

With a ten round limit the 9mm doen't look that attractive.

IMHO

i like it in the 9mm that really a personal thing though people argue day and night about what caliber is better for what

I like the .40 for IPSC as I can see the holes better. After a few tape overs I find it a bit harder to see the placement on the longer shots when hustling to be honest. Might just be me though...

.40 can be down loaded to a very nice recoil level and still make minor in Prod. easy. I shoot a G22 Glock and it is just fine.

my $.02

I got a mp9 and love it would suggest it for anyone and especially for you. Unless you want to fork out all that cash just to add more recoil. After all we are in canada and we don't have to worry about knocking people down with them just making holes in paper. This is mine, I love it.

This is pretty valid..and the extra reloading gear means you should get a 9.

I don't reload, and think it is nice to try different calibers, so I would get a .40. Cost of ammo between the 2 is not significant either.

It's a win/win for you.

My "rule" goes like this...

If you own either of these... get the other you don't have: 9mm / .45acp
If you are only going to own one pistol caliber, get a .40S&W

:)

Makes sense since brass is plentiful...

Never saw the point of .40 esp. for target shooting. If you want more recoil than load 9mm on the hot side, or if you want to spend more on ammo get a 10mm

just my $0.02

What no free brass for the taking laying around your ranges out in Ontario? :p

With the price of lead these days go with the 9mm.

Lead is about $1.05@lb. That's either 38 180gr 40cal bullets or 56 124 gr. 9mm bullets. If that makes a big difference in what you shoot, take up knitting.

Having just bought my first ever pistol, and it being in .40S&W, I think I'll say .40:D

9mm is a lady's round. I went to the range and saw all the ladies shooting 9mm I chose .40 :p
