Please help me decide... 1911 vs Glock

You need to consider a few things the 1911 is made by over 100 different companies if I am not mistaken so its a well liked well used pistol design, but was designed for 45 acp, design changes to modify a pisto are not always advantageous. The glock 17 is a 9mm flat out. If you are looking for trouble free range fun buy the glock they are easy to fix easy to sell easy to clean and will be better value for your money, today. If you want a 1911 you will have to save and spend good dollars on a good one and get it in 45. I personally hate glocks (sold mine) and shoot only sigs, but for what you are looking for and comparing I think the glock will serve you better, so I think its fair to say my opinion on this one is unbiased.

Every pistol on the Canadian market is wonderful. Each one is more accurate than any shooter can be. They are all trouble free--especially if you leave them as they are out-of-the-box, IMHO.

Some will feel more comfortable in your hand at first, but as you become a better shooter, you'll get tight groups with any pistol you pick up.

For target shooting at a bench, they are all wonderful. But some give more shooting pleasure than others. Some are too snappy. Some grips feel like chair legs.

Reload your ammo. Then, your ammo becomes so cheap that you can afford both a Glock and a 1911.

But, make sure that your 1911 is .45ACP, not 9mm.

Shooting a .45 1911 is one of the great aesthetic joys of shooting. That pleasure will be lost with a 9mm 1911.

I guess when we live in such a "disposable" world, it's easy to believe that something "plastic" would wear out faster than metal. But still, do some research before posting stuff like that.

Is my Glock here yet? I miss it already. :p
