If you go to __ www . enfieldrifles.profusehost.net/index.htm __ there is in "Part 1 - General History" A bunch of proof marks and other marks they put on Enfields listed and where they are from so you can check that out if you want to get really specific infomation about your rifle :)

Oh My!

What it was, A 1918 No1mk3* SMLE
What it is
A severely modified deer rifle. Reciever drilled for scope mounts, forend chopped, handguards missing, nosecap missing, mid barrel band and sling swivel missing, charger bridge missing. Judging from the gloss, the wood has either been varnished or had a synthetic finish applied.:( At least he didn't cut the barrel.

yep, I did my research and reached the same conclusion. a heavy modified SMLE
I took it apart and will give it a good cleaning job then test its accuracy.
Thanks,
Mo

"...then test its accuracy..." Check the headspace first. No reflection on the guy you bought it from, but thousands of these rifles have been assembled out of parts bins with zero QC.
