please help me with these 2 Enfields

Please bear with me first picture post for me.
I have 2 Enfields.
And I'm a noob regarding these Rifles.
I would like to refurbish one of these with a full length wood stock, but im not wanting to butcher one just because of it.
MAybe even making a sniper Enfield of it.

I added pics so you guys could give your opinion on what i have here.
Looking forward to your comments.

seems to me that the the second rifle, 5th pic, bottom of the 2 in the last pic has had somebody worked on on top of the receiver.
both have non matching bolt numbers.
bottom one of the two seems to be in better condition. both bores seem to be in excellent condition.

Well.At least they seem to be full length barrels.Wood will set you back about $250.00.The little metal bits at the front maybe $80.00.If you want to turn a No.1 into a sniper maybe add $3,000 to $5,000 for a correct scope. You will never get your money back!!

The wood stock would be on the list and some hardware. definitely not a original scope.
I assume they're not collecting grade rifles?

If you restore these rifles it will be because you want to.No matter what you do they will never be original, Collector? No. Worthy of restoring ?Maybe, If they are # matching all the better.You might wind up with a couple of rifles that shoot well if you do your part.,

I wouldnt want to start doing something to it knowing its destroying history. A full length stock and maybe a repro sniper scope i might do because the rifle will look much better. non matching numbers. both bolts are different #.
any idea where to find full length stocks and repro scopes?
 
I just bought a full set for a No1 I'm restoring. I got a walnut butt and forend from Numrich and had to get the upper handguard from Liberty Tree Collectors. They match perfectly. Liberty tree has some decent DP stuff but they can't ship forends or buttstocks over the border (?????). Also watch ebay, you'll find a lot of your small parts on their from English sellers. I made a list of what I needed and checked Numrich, LTC and ebay and priced them all. The price differences will scare you sometimes.

You won't get your money back, but it is an enjoyable and frustrating experience.
 
If I was to do another No1 restoration in the future and the rifle was worth it, I would go with reproduction wood from EFD in the UK. Might as well start off with something nice, and you know the price, plus its readily available. Plus it seems like people in the UK actually want to do business with us, unlike the US making us jump through hoop after hoop.

Your rifles are No1 MkIII*s. You can make a reproduction sniper out of them if you want, but as stated you have to use an original scope because no one makes a reproduction for them. The reproduction scopes that are out there are copies of the No32 scopes which were utilized in making the No4 MkI (T) sniper rifles and No4 MkI*(T) sniper rifles. To build one of these you need a No4 MkI or No4 MkI* rifle to start with. The NO1 MkIII snipers are a pretty rare piece of kit. They were mostly scrapped between WWI and WWII. IO think only the Aussies used them and built them in WWII.

Im thinking of getting a full length stock for it.
Scope is out of the question.
But I would like to build one like Flying Pig did.
because i like to build things myself.
So the search is on for a No4 MkI*(T) or No4 MkI (T)

Hopefully i can pick up a No4 somewhere.
