With the kind permission of CGN Owner, Greentips, I am making a post here in regards to seeking support for Canada's F-Class Teams to the World Championships in 2013. Greentips has offered to make this a "Sticky"
Most of the Precision rifles forum participants have a vague idea what F-Class is... It is a precision long range sport shot prone, at distances of 300 - 1000M. In international Competition, it is all very long range.
Canada invented the sport! It was the result of the efforts of the late George Farquharson, (after whom the sport is named) that saw TR/Palma competions shot with scopes and bipods. It is a sport that has exploded in popularity, with rifles and accessories being made for the sport, and we even have an international regulatory body for the sport too. Quite a leap in barely 20 years from a Kamloops TR shooter that wanted to add a scope and a bipod because his advancing age and diminishing health made TR shooting increasingly more difficult to enjoy.
Unfortunately, Canada's competitive shooters have been left in the dust internationally by our national aversion to all things firearms related, the shortage of long range facilites, and the huge expanse (and expense) that gets in the way of getting together as a team.
I was appointed as Team Captain of the 2013 F-Class open and FTR teams that will be shooting in Raton NM, in 2013. In 2009, Canada could not afford to send a 4-man F-Open team to Bisley to shoot in the sport that it invented. It was extremely discouraging. (The World Championships are held every 4 years)
Our international shooters are completely unsponsored. They pay for everything out of their own pockets with a small amount of assistance from the DCRA, but it can afford very little. What this has meant is that when it comes to assembling teams, we have only ever been able to send those that can afford to pay their own way, not necessarily the best of the best shooters.
I am committed to changing that.
I am appealing to my fellow CGN enthusiasts to take some time to visit the DCRA F-Class Team website and to make a small donation to the team.
100% of the funds collected will be going directly to our efforts to assemble the best F-Class open AND the Best FTR teams in the world. I KNOW we have the talent. I KNOW we have the ability, but we struggle to compete against "Team Berger" Team Savage" "Team USA" and the other teams that enjoy rich sponsorship and support. Our other challenge is facilites. We have a distinct shortage of facilites in Canada that allow us to practice at 1000M, and there is the problem of getting shooters from New Brunswick and BC together to practice as a team.
We have chosen to use (FRAUD ALERT) to accept donations. I know this may be controversial to some, because of the company's stand on guns, but it is the best we can do, and it appeals to the widest potential market. Please overlook any emnity you may have for (FRAUD ALERT) and consider making a donation.
I run a farm, I work full time, I am finishing a degree and I run a business. I am doing the best i can on my budget of time and money. I beleive in this very deeply and I hope you will share some of that conviction with our team.
I desperately want the world to know that we Canadians are some of the best at the very sport we invented, and I hope you will help get us there!

Thank you very much!
