Please help to ID this Mauser

This is a Rare pre war 1936 Photograph from the Machinists Cafeteria
at the Mauser Factory at Oberndorf, Germany.
Notice that Poached Eggs and Spicy Foot Long Bavarian Sausage and
2 Litres of the Finest German Beer were being served for breakfast
that day in the Beer Halls for each worker.

Hence the outstanding workmanship,

I used to use some pic hosting services that can post the original sized pic to the forum. Like yours.

Can you please tell me how did you do the pic posting? thanks.

Mostly because I can't figure out the other ways to do it, I just pay a membership fee to CGN and get to upload pictures directly from my computer up to the CGN website. I paid the "big dollars", so that is why I think I show up as an "Uber Super GunNutz" under my name?? Certainly not because of anything that I know or did...

If it helps, below is a picture of the left rear side of a Gewehr 98 made at Oberndorf A/N, 1908, at least as per the engravings across the front receiver ring. So, a standard Mauser box for the bolt stop and ejector, with the outside spring and the screw through the rear end. This rifle has also had someone's attention - the charger lip has been ground off, and holes have been drilled and tapped - actually two times, not in line with each other, on the front receiver ring. I did not think I had a rifle chambered for 8x57, but apparently I do...

Same rifle, with that bolt stop box removed. As per my quote above from MMROTW, the Serbian / Yugo Model 1924 b were apparently made by modifying this Gew. 98 style rifle. I suspect this bolt stop box should have remained the same???

Looks like its a Yugo Made Herters XK3 style action?

Can’t help you much in finding parts, but at least it’s a starting point.

But maybe not? The pic of your receiver where the ejector box goes could still be something different.

View attachment 494392

Compared to OP's picture in post #18, the positioning of the screws in your picture do not look the same? This Herter's appears to be a solid left wall commercial action - no thumb cut-out. But someone must have had similar idea - has to replace the original Mauser bolt stop, but also has to replace the original ejector...

The original design is a Mauser Ejector box.

Then the people who did the initial Smithing removed that Ejector box, filed down the holding ear, using a piece metal to cover the original bolt stop square opening and drilled and tapped for unknown solution.

I assume the best way to restore the ejecting and bolt stopping would be restoring the ejector box. The holding ear will be Tig welded up back.

A little bit more work to do.
