Just cuz the gun will shoot 1" at 25m doesnt mean it will in the hands of an inexperienced or casual shooter:rolleyes: . If u think starting out with a $3K gun will make u a good shot its like strapping yur a$$ in a Ferrarri and thinking you're an expert driver...The gun is only as good as the person holding it.
Good luck:)

I know I know,but Sharp tools make good work.:p

I'm a little unclear what you mean by your "sports shooter" (since bullseye target pistols are classed as "sports pistols"), but am going to assume that you don't intend to compete in bullseye shooting with it. In case I'm wrong, keep in mind that most (not all, just most) bullseye shooting in Canada is ISSF, and .45 is not allowed. Scoring is based on .38 in the centrefire portion.

I shoot both NRA and ISSF style bullseye, generally with my Hammerli SP-20, but my favourite gun is my Colt Series 70 Gold Cup National Match in .45. In NRA shooting in the States, .45 is required for the 2700 matches and so there's a big following down there for extremely accurate 1911's, since the precision targets are shot at 50 yards one-handed. Up here, not so much at all. If you think you might get into bullseye, keep calibre in mind.

Buy your Les Baer and be done with it......
I'm looking forward to your follow up post on how it doesn't live up to its reputation much like your post on your Sig Blackwater.

It means that you are not reading and understanding what some of the posters are putting forward here. You keep espousing manufacturers' claims about 1" accuracy at 25 yards. To make it plain, these claims that the manufacturers make are pointless if the shooter isn't capable and I would include myself as one of them. The pics I posted are my absolute best and they are no where near a 1" group. Pretty hard to shoot a 1" at 25 yards consistently unless you have a rest or some optics on your pistol. Most out of box firearms will be more accurate than the average shooter.

From what I saw of your reply to daBear's post about a sharp tool making for good work. Well, it just seemed smarta$$ed to me and that you are not grasping what some people are trying to tell you here. Buy a custom or semi-custom because you like it but don't expect it to make you a better shot. Plain enough?

If you truly want a custom gun with great accuracy etc.... Then look at SVI, however I believe the cost may be a weee bit above your price range. But then they are true CUSTOM guns.

As stated earlier, most of the guns named are not really "custom" guns, but high grade guns.

oic,thanks.

My Kimber Stainless TLE II is getting a new barrel and bushing fitted by Joe at DLASK. I will have spent <$2000 when all is said and done for everything including the various LCF accessories I've ordered (Novak sights, Alumagrip, Wilson Combat parts, etc.)

I expect it will be way more accuracte than I will ever be able to be with it :)

My Norc goverment is just about accurate enough to keep up with most mentioned here. I would buy something cheap until you decide after many rounds what options or stuff you do or dont want on a 1911. See if you can shoot it first. Some of the above mentioned stuff are not really suited for first gun buys.

In my opinion some of Gunner Christianson (sp ?) tuned Para Ordance LDA's are the nicest pistols I have ever shot (also Canadian made). I would highly recommened Armco to fit you with a excellent true custom 1911. I believe he can get almost any brand in and do what ever you can dream up. Armco is a contributing CGN Dealer and is located here in Canada.
