I am looking for a decent quality shooting mat that will double as a soft rifle case. I don't think I will be using it too much as a "drag bag" but that seems to be the term being used for this product so I will fall in line. I have been googling it, checking ebay, etc, and while I have found several that I thought would be great, I have no experience with this sort of thing so I need advice from some one who has used these things. My budget will be about $200 +/- a few $$.

Thanks!

You might want to consider a seperate mat. The problem with using the bag as a mat is that it tends to pick up dirt, grass, moisture, etc. and the wrap it around your gun when you decide to pack up.

Sure, you can carefully clean everything before you pack everything away, but it's something to consider.

I use an Eberlestock shooting mat. Lightweight and fairly compact. Rolls up and I put it in one of the large "pockets" on my drag bag.

I've bought a few products from aim field sports. They're in the UK very fast and reasonable shipping. There stuff is very high quality and the best I've seen. Worth checking out. I ordered a drag bag Monday morning and had it Wednesday afternoon. And X2 on a separate bag and shooting mat....

Eagle (or is it Blackhawk) Shooter/ Stalker Mat! Just a little above $ 100 on Fleabay! :D

I bought a Zhinese knockoff version of this mat for under $ 100. IT works for my game. I'm too old and ugly to deploy overseas so this mat will work for me and my wannabe sniper games! :)

Eagle/Condor/NCStar all make a combo shooting mat/bag. And they all look the same!;) Of course, the Eagle is about $400 and the others are closer to $100.

I have a couple of the Condor bags and they seem to be holding up just fine. Had them out in the driving rain and on the grass and really have had no problems with them.. Buy a couple, they'll last for years.

w w w.centerthegroup.com for shooting mats. Drag bags look cool and you can stuff the pockets with all kinds if crap, but then you have to empty all the pockets to make it into a flat shooting mat.
Just my 2 cents.

And if it rains while you are shooting, not only is your mat wet, your guncase is too.
Separate units make sense.

I bought an NC Star :)puke:) off EBay this morning. I got it for like 60 bucks, thought I couldn't go wrong for the price. It is the shooting mat/drag bag all rolled into one. I will get a good mat sometime in the new year so I have both, but for now this will do. Thanks for all the suggestions guys!

I got my mat from Midway. Nicest one I've seen but owing to Midway's refusal to ship to Canuckistan you have to be near a US warehouse to receive the package, or have an Amerifriend transship it to you.

For a drag bag, I like my Voodoo Tactical Ultimate drag bag. It's not military-grade, but I'm not exactly going to war with it. I think I saw a bunch of them at One Shot Tactical in Trenton when I was there.
