Around $200.00 and safety depends on a first hand inspection of several things. This gun could have short chambers and is not designed for today's high pressure loads. If you want to shoot modern off the shelf ammo, it is not the gun for you.

Being a boxlock means fairly recent manufacture.
Need to see the proofmarks on the barrel flats and watertable to get a better idea.
Probably nitro proof, could be 2 1/2 chambers, and not likely OK for steel.
As suggested, take to a Good smith for evaluation.

Boxlocks were made before 1900 although the gun in question is not that old. Also, depending on the age of the gun, nitro proof does not mean it is good for today's modern loads. It just means it was proofed for smokeless loads and pressures of the time. It all depends on how old it is. Even then, a double of older vintage benefits from the use of low pressure loads.

Pictures of the proofs, please ?(grin)
Oh, and just how long are those barrels?
they look like they have been cut.
as far as age goes , yup box locks have been made since before 1900 but that one looks newer as has been stated.

First gun I ever refurbished was a Neumann boxlock similar to the one pictured. That was a learning experience...
Just picked up a hammered Neumann in very good metal condition. Sadly, the stock is cracked through the wrist. Repairable provided it wasn't overly oiled.
