No big trick to that... grain or alfalfa fields in farm country or cuts in the northwest... I hope one of three things for you;
1. That you are really, really good at reading wind and placing shots under hunting conditions.
2. That you get no shots at game.
3. That it is a clean miss.

Best chances for hunting would be within 200 yards, otherwise what's the point of "hunting" vs shooting? I don't get this recent trend of threads looking for opportunities to take long range shots when you can readily come within <100 yards of a deer in most parts of the province. In Ontario, the only chances you have of taking a shot like that would be farmland, or maybe a pole line or cut block. Either option will be hunted by somebody else for the most part. Get a 30-30 with open sites and learn to shoot 50 yards in the timber for a real hunting experience with less competition. All my bucks and does have been taken within 80 yards. Again, why risk a stupid shot when you don't have to?

I will shoot targets that are forever away but 300 yards is a good and long deer shot.
