I don't see why it wouldn't work just fine. Definitely better than freezing on the drive home.

Curious, and not trying to be a ####, but how do you retrieve and load the animal once you shoot it? Phone a friend?

They make window gun rests! Seen one at my LGS.
 
This was my question also, how you recover and what happens if the animal runs off and you aren't able to follow? Do you hunt with a partner who can track down game? Genuinely curious.
 
Can't you roll the window all the way down and shoot
I would get out for sum practice shooting from seat and find out what will work
One of my buddy is in the same boat and he has no problem shooting from the drivers seat and he is a big man
 
As far as yotes and crows going down the vultures and their friends will clean them up just find.
But as far as eatable game goes ....... Yup you gotta have friends that flush the game too you right, retrieve, field dress it for you.
All I have to say is "THESES GUYS ARE TRUE FRIENDS" and fellow hunters indeed!!!

The pool noodle is clever. I figured out that I could put my elbow on the arm rest and lean my forearm against the door. My butt had to be half on the console but it worked. Probably depends on the truck though. a 2007 Tacoma works for me.

Figure that while targeting shooting on crown land on a cold day.
 
For those of you who think I hunt alone you might just want to rethink that statement! I for one would NEVER even take a shot at any type of game that I knew I could not track if it was wounded. I have been hunting for over for over 45 years and come home empty handed for that very same reason. I feel its best not to shoot what you won't take home for your family to eat. To me thats what a true hunter is at heart as well as a conservationist saving game for a later time and date.

As far as recovering any shot animal goes. As all hunters know you never make a shot that would not put that animal down. I never go out alone as any smart hunter knows and understands all the basics of hunter safety, it is very very dangerous unsafe and stupid to do.
As in boater safety they know enough to file a float plan to be safe, hunters should file a plan as to where their going in case of emergencies. whether it's for the hunter or for someone to contact them.
It is better to hunt safely and come home to your family than to have your spouse told he is out there somewhere and we are looking for him.

Wtf? Agree with everything else but really? A few bush skills and being prepared go a long way, I feel 100 times safer miles in the bush alone than I do walking any big city.

Many manufacturers sell window-clamp gizmos with a mounting plate on top for use as a camera or spotting scope base. I would think it would be pretty simple to modify one with a shooting rest, probably even with "wings" to help hold a rifle in place. The one I have has a simple threaded 1/4x20 stud sticking out the top, which would make it easy to attach whatever rest you cobble together, and still allow you to remove it and use the thing for a camera/scope if you wish.
