I have a long geared cousin who put a hunk of 2X4 on his Lee Enfield for Moose hunting. Looked like hell, but it worked.
Later had a custom stock made for it.
I also have a longer length of pull, between an inch and a half and two inches longer than usual.
What I have done, is find rifles that come with a steel but plate, and put a thick pad on instead. Other than that, and my custom rifle, I usually just put up with it. I've sold rifles because of it though. That short pull on a hard kicking rifle can be brutal.

Years back there was a slip on pad you could get. also looked like hell, but it worked too.

Edit: Just checked Amazon, and ebay, those slip on pads are still out there, and they look a lot better than they used to.

I've got a slip on pacmayer pad on one rifle that came with a youth length stock and it adds about an inch.
The other thing you can try is squaring your shoulders a bit more to the target to push the rifle forward.

I had similar issue with a couple guns and contacted Jon the Leathercrafter on CGN as per this post:

Could not be happier with them. Custom sized and look real classy. A word of caution is to make your measurements of stock circumference then add a little as is better to be a little longer than too short with the leather as it wraps around. Can request whatever amount of padding to gain the length you want.

Butt extenders

Thanks guys the info is great. I am 6'6' with almost 6'8" wing span so pretty much ALL guns pull are short for me. Guess its from me having to shovel a lot of large and small farm animal leftovers. :(

Making a spacer is not difficult, you can probably even find wood to match. Take off buttpad and scribe on a piece of wood or other suitable material, leave a little extra for angle of stock. Cut with jig saw. Drill holes for screws, protect stock with masking tape and have at it with a belt sander.
