Has anyone ever shot fowl (water or land) with a 410? I am trying to figure ways to go out hunting again now that I am a paraplegic in a wheelchair.
If anyone has any tricks or hunting aides they use please pass the on I'd really appreciate it. PM me please.

I don't think you will find steel shot anywhere. I have shot tons of grouse with a .410

Although expensive maybe more so than 410 rst offers non toxic light loads for old double guns. These offer very low recoil and better patterns than 410s. I find when hunting or shooting from a chair a shorter sxs gun is faster and easier to swing and reload while sitting. Break action guns lack the length of a reciever like a semi or pump
I will be hunting from a kayak this year shooting while sitting and have been practicing
Best of luck

Winchester makes thier Super X in a .410 3" steel shot, #6 shot I believe, maybe they were 5's, my little brother used to come out with his single shot .410, we would go out to a woody hole close by after school, he was 4 years younger then us, and got more ducks then we did on more then 1 ocaision, pretty funny thinking about it now,
I haven't seen a box for sale for awhile, may have to search for them, definately do-able! Good luck!

I was just searching for these the other day. Looked like in Canada it would be a special order. If anyone finds some, let me know as well. Also Federal makes a waterfowl load in .410 with steel shot.

One of my buddies is also wheelchair bound. He uses a Savage model 42 22/410 combo, and a 243 for deer. If you want to PM me, I can probably get you his e-mail or something so you can discuss this with someone who has first-hand knowledge of what you're dealing with.

Have you considered the 28 gauge? They seem to pattern much better than a 410, and I don't believe they give up much on a regular 20 gauge load. With a bit less recoil than a 20 gauge. I know you didn't ask, but I have a 28 gauge and it punches way above its weight. Just a thought.

I as well as my son pictured here started with a 410 , I am pretty sure this is before steel shot. You just have to let them get closer.

My first duck hunt I used a 410, that looked just like that one. That thing could eject shells three feet, had to be carefull not to wing the other guy in the blind with the empty. Worked well too, but as you said, it was best they passed close, as the pellet count thins fast.
