So i have a nylon or something uncle mikes holster for my taurus 24/7 pro .40. it gets the job done but i would really like a better holster.

would you guys reccomend a kydex or leather holster? at the moment i don't know what my ideal price range is so lets say it's unlimited for the time being.

also where can i find holsters specially made for a 24/7 or at least will fit it close enough. uncle mikes doesn't make kydex for them and i'm not sure what would be similar enough to work. as for leather i'm lost. i perfer the look of them but they are pricer and i'm having the same problem with finding one made for my gun.

Thank-you for an advice/tips/expereinces you share.
free advice is always worth the price you pay.

Not sure if they have a holster for your gun, but I love the Bladetech line of gear.

My glock, STI and mag pouches, including my AR mag pouch all are bladetech. Get the ones with the tek lock and you can take them on and off without removing your belt.

I say it is MOSTLY a personal preference issue: Kydex is basically bullet proof (NOT literally, but it requires zero maintenance!), but I am sometimes really annoyed by the noise of the hard holster shell banging in contact with... Well, whatever: zipper pulls from your jacket, support post on the range, ground, whatever: depends on what you are doing while wearing it. Leather is "nicer", but eventually breaks down, tends to stretch throughout its life, and may require occasional treatment to keep it from drying and cracking.

+1, i've been using blade tech stuff for about 6 years. Leather is very nice and you can get some beautiful custom stuff made - but for simplicity and functionality, I think Kydex is superior.

The other great thing about Blade Tech is that they have an enormous range of holsters. I'd be surprised if they don't currently makes something to fit your Taurus, and if they don't I believe that they will make custom holsters on request.

Comp-tac offers kydex and leather/kydex hybrids which perform very well. They also deliver to Canada within 2 weeks
