Hi, I am new to this forum and would like to know if anyone has experience with the 6.5 Creedmore at longer ranges like 1000 yards. I am looking at building a rifle and can not decide between the 260 and the 6.5 Creedmore. All comments would be appreciated.

Just my opinion, but I'd option for the 260 with Lapua brass & 139 Scenars .
Great cartridge and if you want to take it 1 step further in a short action
Acklify it. Has worked ok for me.
I think the 6.5 BR is a great little cartridge as well...

There is only about .7 gn difference of powder capacity between the 6.5 creedmoor and the .260 if loaded with the heavy 6.5mm bullets. I have been reading between the two as i am also trying to decided between the two. From what i gather, if you want to reload, go the .260, better brass (lapua, nosler, norma brass is available). I have read that Hornady 6.5 creedmoor brass is soft. If you just want to buy factory loads off the shelf, go 6.5 creedmoor. Hornady has a good load with the 140 gn A-Max. They state on their box 2710 fps from a 24" barrel. I have read people have got close to 2850 fps with a 28" barrel.

6.5 Creedmore

The 6.5 Creedmore was designed for 1000 yd competition and has many positive features for accuracy. One of the most NB is that it fits into a short action for better strength. I have had some excellent accuracy with my factory gun in this calibre. Unfortunately there is only Hornady brass available for this cartridge however 22-250 can be blown out to fit using the COW method.
 
bigger better mousetrap. like mr. o says, the 260 ackley is a hummer and you can now get lapua brass. simply nothing finer, or you can use any one of a hundred different types of brass to make your cases. Not so with a creedmore.

don't turn your nose up at a 6xc or even a 6br. the 6mm lapua 105 hybrid bullets are almost on par with the 139 lapuas in 6.5 for bc.
