Does anyone have a reference or source of information that provides any details about how or if any of the 6.5 CALIBER BARRELS OF ANY OF THESE Euro RIFLES CAN THE INTERCHANGED? For instance, are the barrel and receiver threads of a Mannlicher-Schoenhauer the same as those of the Norwegian or Danish Krag-Jorgenson in any known 6.5 models? Is there any practical way to fit a new Swedish 6.5 x 55 Mauser barrel to a Carcano receiver with a 6.5x54 or 6.5x52 barrel??? Sorry if this is an old question but the more I read about these rifles in the 6.5 the more confusing the info gets........thanks.....karl

The Euro Krag, has left hand threads the Swede has right hand threads.

Tradex, has new 6.5x55 barrels for $100.

The bore diameter on the Carcano is different as well.

If you're looking for a decent Carcano sporter, put an ad in the EE for an Eatons Carcano.

They have the barrels set back and rechambered for 6.5x54(53) MS.

Some have very decent bores, set triggers and shoot quite well.

These barrels are not interchangeable. Each of these rifles has its own unique breeching. The Swedish barrels Trade Ex sells most definitely could not be retrofitted to a Mannlicher Schoenauer. In addition, the Swedish cartridge is larger than the 6.5x52 and 6.5x54 cartridges. The M-C and M-S rifles have magazine systems that would not be easily made to work with the larger cartridge.

I've always thought a Carcano could be made into a .300 Savage using a take off barrel.May or may not feed from the clip.Harold
