Hello all,

I have the opportunity to pick up an Interams mark X rifle in 7x57 could someone tell me a little bit about it and also what are the possibilities of getting rings and base for this?

many many thanks

they are a large ring commercial Mauser 98 pattern rifle, made in Yugoslavia, as I understand on the same machinery that FN made their 98 actions.

any scope base made for a FN Mauser will fit the Mark X action (weaver 45 and 46)

quality wise, they have a good reputation, but the level of finishing varies, they are typically overpolished with rounded corners and missed spots.

The Interarms mauser's were built in the Zastava factory in Yugoslavia. Interarms is an English company, I beleive they are no longer in business. I just picked up my first one, in .270. I like the looks of it and the trigger adjusted nice. I haven't shot it yet because the weather has just been the sh*ts here. I think a lot of interarms mausers are used for custom builds, I wouldn't mind making one into a 9.3x64 brenneke some day. You can get large ring mauser bases from talley, or several different kinds of weavers. I believe you can get standard leupold bases to fit it as well.

Interarms was based on Price St in Alexandria, VA. They also had a very large warehouse and office in Manchester, UK. It was owned by Sam Cummings until his death in 1998, shortly after his daughter was charged with murdering her boyfriend.
Sam was a very interesting guy.

THe Mark-X action are very good. Basically the same as the current Remington 798.

nice actions

Well I feel pretty good nothing wrong with a Zatava action picked up a virtually new mark x with mannlicher stock and double set triggers. Hope shes silky smooth

My second 30-06 is a mark-X Mauser action that has a Dakota Winchester-style 3 position safety installed, the action was smoothed over by my father, and the barrel was bobbed to 20 inches and had iron sights installed. These things do come from the factory a little rough, but they can be smoothed up very nicely. They are made of excellent6 metal, and have a very nice adjustable trigger. Incidentally, they also have about the best floorplate design I've ever seen; it will not come undone unless you want it to. They use the same bases as the FN Mauser action, and everyone makes them.

the "Mini Mark X" actions are definitely jewels. Mine was made just after the unpleasantness in Yugoslavia at the Zastava factory. The stock leaves a bit to be desired but the rest is well fimished and accurate. It's in 7.62x39 and is extremely light and handy.

do I have an odd ball

I may have an odd ball, rifle has a 20 barel mannlicher stock iron sights slightly butterfly bolt, double set triggers in 7x57 gun is pretty well new and yes the action will have to be slicked up a bit when I say new that would be thirty years old new looks like the rifle may have seen a box of ammo if lucky

Here is my main hunting rifle. It's a .270 Interarms Mark X. My dad gave me this rifle a few years back, he bought it second hand when I was a little kid ,now I'm 34, and although we don't shoot a lot with it (hunting not target shooting) it still shoots tiny little groups. Mine prefers lighter bullets to heavier ones.
