PLEASE tell me this isn't what I think it is!

So THAT'S what those flakes are! I never really paid any attention to it but now that makes a lot of sense. Apparently there is still MUCH to learn about all aspects of shooting. Thanks again guys for answering my "newbie" question.

copper fouling?

Most likely. I've used winclean in my 1911 and found the same thing. With the primers and powders burning much cleaner there is little residue left in the barrel. This makes it much easier to see the fouling. Regular solvent won't remove it very easily. Get a good copper remover.

Yea and the rest of us at Abbotsford lit our cigarettes off the blue flame from your barrel. Let the Queen breath Rob and get yourself some gun cleaning stuff.:D

Take Care

Winclean is brass jacketed. That is brass fouling. Nothing to worry about, harder to remove than copper though.

Yeah I pretty much hate Win Clean...anybody else find that the muzzle flash on it makes you almost go blind?

Looks like copper fouling just like I get in my 5946. Does your camera have a macro function? Try using that to get us a better look. Then try running a patch with some Sweets 7.62 or Barnes CRE10 through the barrel. If the patch comes out blue, it's copper.
