Running out of my favorite copper solvent, Patch Out, and can't find any locally. I see Reliable has some 1St Choice copper solvent, never heard of it. Anybody used it? Any good?

Never heard of it. I tried getting Patch out a while back and had no real luck. Ended up with some of the Bore Tech Copper Solvent. Haven't tried it yet but heard good things. I have been using the eliminator for almost a year new with good results though so I imagine it wont be half bad.

If you pick some up let us know how it works cause its always good to have locally available backups.

Thanks for the replies. Ya, I've seen Patch Out online but paying as much for shipping then the bottle is not very appealing.

Wipe out.
It's the best. Period

I'm glad you see good results with it! I will keep it on my list if I ever run out or am looking for more cleaning products.

Get some. You'll wonder why you used anything else.
It's not even close

Patch out is just Wipe out in a liquid form instead of the foam. I find it less messy.
And apparently Tactical Advantage is slightly more aggressive than Patch-Out.
Don't need to leave it in so it dissolves the copper or carbon.
But haven't tried it.
I have used Patch-Out with the accelerant. That work very well.

I use both Patch Out and Tactical Advantage. The Tactical Advantage is certainly more aggressive on Carbon but I’d call it a tie on Copper. Very much prefer the liquid form to the foam Wipeout.

I've used the Tactical Advantage, but IMHO, it's better for "carbon fouling" only. It works fine with copper but gets the carbon fouling out faster than Wipe Out, but doesn't get the barrel any cleaner than Wipe Out.

If you need to get the job done a bit faster and you don't want to leave any "carbon fouling behind" and you're not worried about a bit of copper fouling, "tactical advantage" works just fine. It's for fast jobs and It's aptly named for use in tactical type, semi autos, during matches.

I really like Wipe Out, both the foaming and the liquid Patch Out for most of my cleaning efforts.

However, I picked up a couple of liters of 1st Choice to give it a try and because a LGS, owner was closing down and just wanted to clear it out. I had done him a few favors and he wanted to return the effort with the 1st Choice.

I took some of the 1st Choice and mixed it 50/50 with Wipe Out Patch Out liquid.

They're very similar products but 1st Choice is closer to Tactical Advantage and works better on carbon fouling than copper. I was hoping to be able to speed things up a bit more by combining the two. It works.

Combining 1st Choice and Wipe Out/Patch Out gets rid of carbon very quickly and maybe even enhances the copper fouling removal better.

It's not a great advantage, if you're only cleaning one firearm, but if you're cleaning several, at the range or after a range trip, it's a very useful mix and cuts the drudgery of cleaning bores time down significantly.

Follow up. Ended up picking up a bottle of 1St Choice copper solvent. Did some informal testing this morning. Soaked a patch with Patch Out (on the left) and a patch with 1st Choice (on the right) and placed a Barnes bullet on each for 5 mins. There’s more blue on the 1st Choice patch. Looks like it should be work as well as Wipe Out and Patch Out if not better!
