Plenty O Patch 1st Choice Copper Solvent

I used Patch out and the accelerator for benchrest shooting until I was introduced to 1st Choice, I started scoping my barrel after cleaning, patch out was leaving copper and carbon. I was at a match and was starting to have problems, one of the top benchrest shooters in Canada who is also a barrel maker came over to look at the barrel and there was a far amount of build up of copper and carbon. He introduced me to 1st Choice and showed me how to properly clean my barrel, have never had a problem since

Follow up. Ended up picking up a bottle of 1St Choice copper solvent. Did some informal testing this morning. Soaked a patch with Patch Out (on the left) and a patch with 1st Choice (on the right) and placed a Barnes bullet on each for 5 mins. There’s more blue on the 1st Choice patch. Looks like it should be work as well as Wipe Out and Patch Out if not better!
whats it like compared to Sweets 7.62 ?

Wow. I have used household ammonia to take out copper for many many years.
Ammonia does not damage steel. I rinse with extremely hot water, dry with a patch and oil with a quality gun oil to seal the metal against O2 and rust
Yes ammonia stinks. But it takes all of the copper fouling out quickly.

Saw the above pictures & figured I would do the same with the products I use. The 2 products on the right are much better at removing carbon.
The only downside to the KG 12 Copper Remover is that it does not have the tell-tale blue colour. BUT, have a look at the close-up & you can see how much more etched the bullet touched by the KG is, compared to Patch-Out. It is really obvious in actuality. Test Elapsed time 10 minutes. I usually leave the Wipe-O100_4045.JPGut & Accelerator in overnight.
