Much has been said about how poorly Mosquitos perform. But having had some tuning troubles with a Tanfoglio Force .22 I would suggest that if one is willing to tinker a little with the recoil spring that the Mosquito could be as reliable as any other .22 semi auto.
The thing is that with a direct blowback style action you actually do the opposite to the spring from what you'd expect. I found that the gun I had would shoot fine with CCI SV rounds. Going up to HV rounds with lighter bullets resulted in the bullets exiting the barrel so fast that there wasn't a long enough dwell time for the back pressure to push against the slide. So going to HV rounds actually required a SOFTER spring than stock. Since I've put in a custom made softer spring the gun has been flawless.
I suspect that the Mosquito issue is much the same situation.
