well i bought a marlin XT22VR, and like a numpty i bought 1200 rounds of winchester super x 22lr ammo. ( it was on sale, 14.99 for 222 rds) between half loads, terrible feed ( bullets grabbing each other while trying to load ) and a pile of non ejecting rounds, this ammo has left me pretty weary of ever buying winchester ammo again. i only shoot on my property and this isnt for hunting, i would like to know what bulk ammo you guys like to plink with? not looking for match grade or hunting loads but id like to be able to walk into cabelas, basspro, or any store around the orillia area and buy 1000+ rounds of your recommended ammo. for now, i will fire the remaining 700 ish rounds and suffer with the crappy, dirty ammo.

I find the Winchester M22 ammo to be better than the 222 and 333 line of ammo. $80 for 1000 seems to be normal but I have not bought it in a while.

I prefer to buy Winchester wildcats because I am cheap, for nostalgia and they work great

hmm i was wondering about the m22 stuff. but i was left with a bad taste in my mouth over the amount of failures. out of the 500 or so rounds i put through this rifle ive had countless ejection failures and maybe 50-60 light loads, and almost every magazine i have to pull the mag down, chamber the round then put the mag back in to stop the bullet from grabbing the case. strange stuff. i bought a little 50 pack of cci loads and all 50 fired perfectly. leads to be believe the ammo is just junk

for just smacking squirrels in Alberta (no limit here) and Richards in the summer I use CCI stingers in a 10/22 which hates them...have to use CCI standards....the Cooeys shoot any round made on earth, Mosberg m151b is like the Cooey, the Jager AP74 (paper punch deemed by feds which i used to have would pound anything fed into it) and as far as buying bricks....CCI, Federal, Winchester, and what ever deal is to be had at the local gun shop in my town.

Cabelas in Regina had M22 800 round boxes at $55 today. Not HP, but round nose, which helps with feeding in some persnickety semi autos.

mines a bolt action, i find the issue is the case grabs the next bullet and is tough to close the bolt, sometimes i have to remove the mag, close the bolt then put the mag back in. usually having to eject the next round due to the bullet now having a big score around the seating area of it. one round this afternoon didnt even make it out of the barrel. im happy i pulled the bolt when all i heard was a light puff from the round instead of the normal "crack". i really cant say enough bad things about this stuff. cci mini mag is on its way.

Target Shooting Products has (listed as RWS Semi-Auto) BBM Semi-Auto for $475/case 5000. That's $4.75 per box/50. The quality is excellent and the price unbelievable. Leave all that "bulk" junk behind and get a case of this stuff, you will not regret it!

I have been getting good results from American Eagle in my 22. I also have a different rifle that likes Winchester Power Points. I recently read a review about Blazers, so I picked up a couple of boxes and I will see how my rifles like them. My advice to you would be to use what is most available to you at your local gun store. Buy a box of pretty much everything and see what is reliable and what meets your standards for accuracy.

Thanks for the tip, Rabidmouse. That price is fantastic for the quality of the ammo.

Bulk 525rd is the box I trust to always work at the cheapest price right now... CCI is the most reliable though and more accurate when under $9 per hundred it's the best bang for your buck otherwise the other stuf below 7 cents per round is a good price.

22lr under $0.064 vents a round is as good as it gets lately for HV. When you see it in that price range but it as you know it's as good as it gets.

Every rim fire is little different. Your feeding issues may or may not be related to the Winchester ammo. Just buy small boxes of various brands and see what gives you the best results. If your feeding issues don't improve with various ammo, your magazine or the rifle itself may need some adjustments.
I would try cci blazer and minimags to start.

i bought a 50 rd box of cci troy landry stuff because it was cheap at crappy tire ( i just wanted to try a different box to remove the rifle from the equation ) all 50 rounds fed, fired and extracted perfectly.

Begs the question . . . why not buy 50 rounds of currently available and cheap before making a bulk buy.
American Eagle, Blazer, CCI, Remington TB, Federal and maybe Winchester.
I have two 10/22's and both function perfectly with the first four (reasonably priced) so there was no point trying the last two.
Tested Federal Match 922A in the 10/22 rifle with a Weaver 36X and five - 5 shot groups at 100 yards averaged 1.10" with the best being 0.52".
