Hello-I have a 1928 NID/16 GA.,wondering if anyone knows how I might remove the rear stock?,have disassembled to the point where only the two action screws in front of the trigger's are left,do not want to mess with them until I know what they are for.At this point the stock will move almost a 1/8 of an inch but feels like there is still something holding it? Not much experience with doubles, and cannot find much on the net after spending considerable time! looking, any help would be appreciated.

I think you are talking either the trigger plate screws or bottom action plate screws if they are in front of the triggers. Any SxS that I removed the stock on these screws had to be removed. I doubt there is a bolt going through the stock on this model but I could be wrong. Make sure your screw driver fits the screws tightly or you will bugger the heads. Most shotgun screws require hollow ground "gun smithing" screw drivers to fit properly.

I just looked at my NID. Those are the trigger plate screws and they have to be removed. There is no bolt through the stock. You have to remove the trigger assembly seperately before you can remove the stock. The safety mechanism goes down from the top and intercepts with the triggers. Without removing the trigger plate assembly, you cannot slide the stock back.
