Hey visser...I think you touched on what the problem likely is=ammo. 22WMR isn't an inherently accurate caliber to begin with, in spite of my own efforts to prove otherwise. I once spent an afternoon with 2 x 22WMR bolt guns and at least 9 varieties of ammo~best group @ 100 yards was barely under an inch. Some ammo types (=Winchester) looked like shotgun patterns, and I'm not even kidding. Like 22LR, the rifle will tell you what it likes...only with 22WMR, I'm of the honest belief that you're likely to NOT find a good one...just one that isn't as bad as the rest. If you can get that gun shooting even 3/4" @ 50 yards, you're doing very well. I'd suggest you start rounding up a box of every ammo type out there (minus Winchester, terrible stuff...and QC is dreadful, or used to be)..get that gun on a steady rest, and retry with a scope you trust. If you won't want to spend that much $, I'd suggest you buy a box of the Hornady V-Max and see how the gun likes it. All the 22WMRs I've shot, and the one I owned seemed to like it best. By "best", I mean about 1-1/4"-1-1/2" @ 100 yards...the odd sub MOA group felt like a real fluke.
