PLS REMOVE _ Hi All; Wondering about improving quality on Marlin lever action rifles. Having owned a couple Remlins, I'm well aware of some of the quality issues regarding fit / finish / action / etc. However, after stopping by a store today and inspecting a few recently delivered 1895s and a 336, I note that the actions are slicker and quieter, the trigger pull improved, and the fit and finish good. Not great, but good with no noticeable issues. For the price, i think the rifles looked very attractive.

Anyone have any insights into the quality issues and whether they have been addressed with recent productions?

They have pretty good quality now.

..........................For a Remington.

Anything Remington touches, from its bone stock guns to its custom shop, is absolute garbage. A mans better off with a spear and an atlatl.

I bought a GBL last year (mail order) and the wood on it was absolute garbage. I sent it back and the dealer told me that all the ones they had looked the same. It was not just a matter of personal preference - I've seen how they should look, mine was a different story. Not too long after that I bought an SBL and I've been very happy with it in terms of fit, finish, and function. As long as you can inspect it first and are happy with it I see no reason not to buy. There seem to be some quality Remlins out there now, but keep an eye out because some of the junk ones are also still among us.

Hit and miss. Almost bought a 336 in 35 Rem, on closer inspection the forend was off centre on the barrel and the checkering on the pistol grip had been pressed twice. Almost like they missed the mark and just hit it again instead of grabbing a new piece of wood. Others I've seen have looked fine, but weren't 35 Remingtons.
