Pls remove

Swiss 1889 pattern bayonet, could be used with either the 7.5mm Schmidt-Rubin (1889 rifle) or the K11 rifles.

Looks like it may have been manufactured at Waffenfabrik Neuhausen, although the markings are worn down. Does it have matching serial numbers on both the bayonet and scabbard?

As for value, with bayonets condition is everything. The finish looks decent, although the blade is stained (possible that it could be lightly cleaned to remove some of the staining), grip scales are in very good to excellent shape. A matching scabbard and bayonet s/n would be preferable... It may be worth $150, if matching to the right person. It may be worth more if someone really wants it - but it's a pretty bog standard Swiss bayonet, unless there is some sort of interesting markings, etc.

Schmidt-Rubin Bayonet Model 1899.It fits on Schmidt-Rubin Models 1896/11, 1911 Rifle and 1911 Carbine.

Yours looks sharpened so collectors value is out the window.I rescued one much like this but with scabbard.Fits very well on my 1911 and looks great, sharpened or not.

I have the Bayonet just itself :( no scabbard

I can say the blade does not have an edge and is flat

I tried to get the blade to show the edge in these shots

I was gonna toss it up on the EE but had no idea where to start

Let me know what you think of the flat edge and thanks again guys so much for all your knowledge and help :)

Looks like a factory edge to me, with maybe a slight bend to it. If it were sharpened, nicely, that shouldn't decrease value much - it's the really crude sharpening jobs that can do some damage...

Serial'd military items like bayonets are worth more when in matching pairs (bayonet and scabbard), mismatched or missing knocks the value a bit. Looking at a few militaria sale sites I frequent, matching pairs are probably worth around $150 in decent condition (with leather frog) to $200 or so in excellent condition.

Would you say $100 would be a fair price if I were to sell her?

Kinda like the feel of it though if the collectors values not there I may modify it and have it as a obnoxious bed slide letter opener lol

Thanks again for your help

For just the bayonet, in decent condition $100 is fair. If it was in excellent condition, then it's worth more. Derek, I personally wouldn't modify it but that's just me.

A matching bayonet and scabbard will command a higher price, and one with the leather frog a bit more.

Light Infantry, if it's matching it's worth more than $100 - but the market over here doesn't seem to be great for Swiss bayonets. Yours is in very nice to excellent condition though.

Jeez, I was thinking German bayonets for some reason - and don't get me started on the BS prices some dealers list S1884/98 IIIs for...

Swiss are serial'd to a rifle (correct me if I'm wrong).
