Hi guys,

I recently bought this finn M39...

001-11.jpg

Wich is in gr8 shape but nothing is matched number and the barrel does not have any special engravings ( like B...D...), the bolt is a russian i'm retty sure ( russian star and not SA marked ) and the number on it is all grinded ( read destroyed )... you can see the the ramp in the action is a little grinded too ( i bet its for the mismatched bolt ) But its a Sako, the hardware is in pristine condition, blue is 90-95%, the stock have sme dings in it but overall VG condition, barrel is in VG cond. too !!!

So i want to hear what you guys think...
Should i leave this riffle like that or...
Should i restore it and put a PE scope + give a new life to an old riffle.
I know people call them BUBBA !!!

IMO I don't feel like i destroy a piece of hisory...
Please be respectfull :D :p :yingyang:

It's your rifle, do as you please...

...but keep in mind, some guy in the future is going to pick up that rifle and curse whoever did the modifications.

The real question is: Would you let the future deny you your birthright?

- M39 rifles are pretty hard to come by in Canada, so leave it alone !

- Finn rifles do not match and are rebuilt from salvaged parts (either bought from WW1 surplus or Russian captured guns in WW2) , only numbers that match are re-stamped numbers on the bolt and on the barrel shank, only the the barrel shank will have the SA or SKY marking and no other parts including the bolt. Your rifle is 100% correct for a Finn rifle.

Yes, thanks JP, so please leave the M39 alone.

Buy a $100 Russian Mosin to monkey with.

If anyone interested to buy it, i'm open to good offers... PM me !!!

I also have a nice VKT D barrel finn M91 all match ( barrel, receiver, bolt )
and i will leave it alone :D cauz this one is a pretty rare one and this M39 is much more common...

IMO open sight is fun to shoot but a scope will show the true potential of an M39 !!!

That is a ###y rifle + think about the fun of shooting it with a scope :D

Actually in Canada the M39 is the rare one and the VKT M91 are real common and were imported in larges numbers in the 1980's. An M-39 with the same numbers on the bolt and barrel shank is a matching rifle in the world of Finn Arms collecting. In final analysis, any Type or Model of Finn rifles are rare, Finland was a small country that fought in 3 major conflits during the 20th Century and the survival rate and overall production number of rifles are quite small compared to Russian, British or American small arms.

I think it would be sacrilege to D+T that M39. Find one that has already been violated (tokguy has one apparently :) ) and have fun with it. You can even sell that beautiful M39 on the EE and make some money to fund your project that way everyone is happy.

Yeah they shoot good.
The daughter and her BF were out shooting with me the other day. Making hits on a duffelbag sized rock that was several hundred yards away...offhand.
That was with my Sako; it's still original. I've never bothered scoping the VTK; bending another bolt is too much hassle.
