*PLZ MOVE* Putting real guns into toy guns

What are the legalities of putting lets say a 10/22 into a airsoft/toy gun body? I assume putting it into a bulllpup configuration would be against code but is there anything else stopping someone to do it?

There was a company doing this with the Ruger 10/22 and putting it into an airsoft M249 SAW body with a bit of modification. I really wanted one, but they don't seem to be around anymore. They were pretty pricey though. May give you a lot more options for changing the looks of a regular old 10/22 if you are good with tools.
