Hey. I just got my box of PMAGs in. I was just wondering if anyone could tell me if you can take the pinned ones completely apart? I can get the bottom open but it seems like the pin is holding the follower in.

It is. If you need to clean them down the road, I'd drill the pin out, clean them and re-rivet them ASAP. I've been meaning to do this but need to borrow the rivet gun from a co-worker.

The pin will hold the follower in. Once you take the pin out it will be prohibited. As per some recent court rulings where unassembled components were deemed enough to be in possession of a prohib device.

Cool, thanks. I was just wondering if I was missing something or if you couldn't do it with the pin. If you just take of the bottom there in enough room to get in there to clean it out.

There is really no need to remove the follower for cleaning, blow out what ever is in there with a can of compress air, and your are good to go.

That's what I figured. I just wasn't sure if the follower was stuck or if I was doing it wrong. But I figured the pin was stopping it from coming apart.

Question answered!

I just thought I'd add that I've found that G96 works excellent for cleaning any carbon residue or debris off of or inside of the PMAGs (and it doesn't harm the finish). Just spray and wipe.

Has anybody tried non-chlorinated brake cleaner on these? I've used it on other mags with no issues...

The first thing I noticed when I got my PMags was that they wouldn't come apart all the way due to the rivet...

OP, sounds like your Pmags are the old style that can not be disassembled. Let me give you some cheap Norinco 5 round magazines and I will swap them out for you.... you pay shipping. :D

Just wondering if you take the pin out it will hold and fire the full 30 rounds or whatever correct? Not interested in doing it just wndering if the pin is the only thing that limits the magazine.

No. If you take the pin out the magazine has a built in self-destruct mechanism to prevent deaths to children.

How exactly would a tiny empty hole along the spine prevent the magazine from functioning as designed? Think it over, it's not too hard :)
