PMC Ammo and CZ Shadow

I knew a shooter from Cape Breton that had problems with his CZ shadow...turns out the sear cage was loose...or moving around. So he would have a jam every 2nd mag. Not to go off in a different direction...but just something else to keep in mind. Step 1,...clean it. It works than problems solved...if not than go to step 2, put a 25% stronger wolff extractor spring.

Thank you, I will pick up regular 1.5mm and 3mm punches next time I'm at the range.

Princess auto is your friend. I picked up a set of punches there a while back for $12 i think it was a 20pc set. If your range sells punches i'm sure they are much more expensive than that. save a few bucks where you can. for as often as you'll use them the cheapo ones should do the trick just fine.

In addition to PMC, do you guys find that regular American Eagle FMJ works well in the CZ Shadow? PMC is sold out everywhere, but I might be able to get some AE for similar pricing. Just looking for cheap factory ammo to try instead of BDX. If I like, I will buy 1000-2000 rounds right away (if 50-100 rounds work perfectly).

I was looking at The Ammo Source and pricing looks good (same as everyone else) until you add shipping, then it's no longer a good deal. I imagine its the same for most online dealers.

Thanks,

Mark

the only ammo I would stay away from would be blazer.the range that i shoot at brought some in and there was problems with the bullets key holing so we checked and it was coming out at .350 ish instead of .355

Presently shooting AE and PMC 115 grain in my CZ. I interleaved them to check for any difference and I couldn't tell. Both work great.

Thanks guys. I bought a box (50) of AE 9mm 147g toxic metal free TMJ last night and I'll be trying it out tonight. Don't expect any issues.

Any comments on Western Munitions? It's about the only 9mm bulk round I can find in stock, but I don't want to buy 250 rounds at a time without knowing if it will work in my shadow. I'll pick some up if it works, at least until someone gets some PMC in stock. Thanks!

EDIT:

OK I just got back from the range and I have.....very little to report. That's a good thing, haha. First, I cleaned the extractor the best I could without removing it, I got a little brush in there as best I could along with cleaning solution. Then I did the following:

- Shot 50 rounds of Western Munitions 9mm 115g FMJ - ZERO issues, no FTE's, seemed like very good ammo. I am told it's a better reload than BDX. They let me buy just 50 rounds, so I could try it.

- Shot 50 rounds of American Eagle 9mm 147g TMJ "toxic metal free". This ammo has a noticeably LONGER OAL than the Western Munitions, and it functioned flawlessly as well, zero FTE's.

- Shot 50-60+ rounds of BDX 9mm 124g FMJ, zero issues, not FTE's.

So, when all was said and done I got over 150 rounds of 3 different brands and bullet weights of ammo through my shadow with absolutely zero problems. Not really sure if I got lucky, or if nothing has changed, or what but I am happy so far. I bought 250 more rounds of the Western Munitions 115g because it was available and fairly cheap ($75 for 250). I also figure it's short OAL is a little better for the shadow.

Anyways, I will report back after I go shooting again but so far, so good.

Thanks again,

Mark
