Hey all,

I'm wondering if anyone has any experience with the PMC BRONZE 223 REM 55 GRAIN FMJ-BT? The price looks good for bulk, but I've never tried it and am looking for some first hand feedback from those who have ran it through a semi.

Is it worth diving in, or should I just stick with Federal .223?

Thanks for any insight.

I've used lots of these, and found them fairly accurate thru my Ruger American Std out to 180yds. The only ones I used were in the bronze 20/pk, don't know if they pack any other sizes. PPU/PRIV is also a good import from Serbia in the same price range and BP/Cabelas sells Herters FMJ for about $90/150-box. All good in my 'Ruger but I don't know how they'd perform in a T97 or Tavor, etc. I've also used MFS/Barnaul 62g SP that after adjusting for the extra weight did well, too.

Thank you for the reply.

I've used tens of thousands of them in AR15, Tavor 21, Tavor X95, WS-MCR, Ruger American. They work great for bulk ammo. Only complaint is they are all in 20 round boxes compared to Federal bulk bag box. :)

Thank you Gatehouse, yours is an experienced opinion I trust; I'll try some.

Cheers.

I have used Winchester white box and Federal (AE) exclusively until last year when I tried some PMC. As with others I started with Green Tips but tried both the XTAC and the Bronze. I personally have found the Bronze to be tremendous value for the accuracy and reliability, so much so that when FOC had a great sale on these I loaded up. For range ammo, it is decent both performance and price wise. The only other ammo I have seen that looks consistently the same is S&B .223, which I love, but the prices have risen on those, as with everything else. PMC Bronze looks much cleaner than Winchester white box and after shooting, the casings don't look as over-BBQed as the Winchesters. I would not hesitate to pick up more PMC Bronze if and when it goes on sale.

Just to note my local BP has lots (ca 200 bx) but they're at $17.99. Not a Sale ($3-4 above last year), but they're there and the lowest priced .223. Not a lot of selection. The Herters' .223 in 150/bx was a good deal last Fall at about $80+tx ($0.61/rnd w-tx), but I haven't seen any since then.
