I was just wondering if anyone is a member at either. Im looking to join in the next few weeks. Im about 10 mins from poco, 40 from mission. I heard poco gets pretty busy, so i wouldn't mind the extra drive to mission if theres always going to be a bench open. Lookin to get into basically anything, have my dads trap guns, rifles and im going to get myself a pistol in the next few weeks.

Thoughts?

Abbotsford Fish And Game, is great! Really friendly towards Hand Guns and Black Rifles.
But Mission would be you best bet, they have a decent trap range and 300meter rifle range.

I am a member @ Poco & have to say that Colin, Randy & Peter realy make it a enjoyable experience to go shooting but there are so many people now day's that it's not even worth showing up there on sunny day's. Mission is great on the other hand. 300 meter's and cowboy shooting friendly the only down side is that it's so far away from me and the hours that it's open really makes me struggle to get out there.

I think ill stop by mission in the next few days. I would rather drive a little bit further to skip the crowds, and would probably get in more shooting time anyways. Thanks for the replies

Mission's the nicer range (spacious 300m), but their Fudd rule for semi autos made me let my membership expire this year. I wonder if they realize how much money that rule costs them?
Poco's likey the better bet, or Thompson.

I am a member at POCO, great place and great people, but it is busy. I had to sign up on the waiting list 2 times in the last 3 months (1 hour wait the 1st and 1/2 hour the 2nd.) But because POCO is the closest to me (I am from VAN), and all people are very friendly there, it is worth the wait and chat. If you live west of Main street, you might consider Squamish range as well.

Randy, Colin, Peter and Brain are great. Of course you have other members like Joey here whom are great to speak and shoot with.

Why is everyone waiting for a seat? Get your range user course and you can shoot whenever you want, change your targets, use a holster, ect..

The only problem with that is, you may not shoot rifle calibers. I have been thinking of becoming a RO at Poco, so i'm able to run my military/combat rifles like it was ment to be used. Running and gunning, using it's sling, switching from rifle to handgun) I hate standing/sitting their at the benches and shooting, I have hunting rifles for that.

I have been trying to get Doug Kress (President at the time) to change those rules. He was on board but retired ( after some unpleasentness at the AGM.)
So now I have been trying to get Doc on board.

I hope this helps.

Who here would like it so you can run your military/combat rifle like it was intended for?
Perhaps I will start a thread, as not to highjack this one.

Sounds good to me Justin & Colin is always bugging for more help too!

RUC and Holster qual have been on hold since December - I got one rather frustrated g/f that can attest to it. Membership numbers ballooned big time in the last year, which combined with the lack of RUC courses, is causing a decent backlog at Range 7.

Otherwise, the ROs (Randy and Colin) at 7 are definitely A++ in my books, I have yet to run into a better bunch of lads at any range I've been to this side of the border or south of it.

I dont plan on becoming an RO so I can work for the club. I plan on becoming an RO so I can shoot rifle down on the lower ranges.

Is no one else here interested in shooting rifle on the lower ranges?

'pilebuck' in the time it takes to go north through Mission you could go south to Matsqui Village then shoot across to 'ridgedale rod and gun' great place out to 150 meters, rifle, pistol, shotgun and 8/10 nobody on the ranges ( mon-fri)
