Point shooting with the weak hand

I have been practicing point shooting with my airsoft G17 pistol. I have been doing the Bill Jordan one shot from the draw point shooting drill at 7 feet and have been pretty happy with the results so far. It's like a modern close contact technique that fires from the hip as soon as the pistol rotates to muzzle forward.

So with the bursitis acting up in my right shoulder I decided to do the drill from my weak side. I don't have a left hand holster so I started the drill with the pistol in my hand, on my left hip (southpaw strongside position), finger off the trigger.

I am slightly ambidextrous so doing things with my weak hand are usually pretty good plus I practice handgun shooting with my weak hand so I expected results in the same sort of level point shooting with my strong hand.

I was wrong....... Big time.........

The head shots were deliberately aimed head shots (fast though) and they were pretty crappy too.

I clearly have a lot of work to do. Better buy some more greengas.........

Does anyone else practice point shooting or is it a dead art?

With your job and the likelihood of using support hand point shooting in an actual shooting scenario, I would say your hits look just fine to me! Definitely would make me keep my head down!
I practice support hand ( when I do the Dot Torture drill). Slow fire is a lot different than point shooting quickly!

There is something to be said for ‘back-to-basics’ old school techniques; point shooting works!
We’re discouraged from using Jordan’s techniques during our yearly re-qual.s, but off the record, our training officer says that any technique that put holes centre of mass is a good one.

Gotta love a pistol drill where you are shooting your way back to your map rack full of MA weapons!

Don't laugh at the spear. With the exception of the last 400 years, for 25,000 years it has been humanities primary weapon and you can never run out of point........

As for the map rack only old guys use paper these days........

Just curious, you are turning your head and still using your dominant eye(assuming right eye dominant and left hand being non dominant).

Interesting! Clint Eastwood style shooting, which I have tried but failed miserably at, mostly because of running out of ammo.

Makes me wonder how they did it 150 years ago. How did they come up with enough ammo to become good enough?
