Polar Bear hunting

you can eat bear as long it's well done but i've heard it's tough and stringy
i've heard of bears being shot here whit 308's 303's 270's 30-06 and many others. one lady here shot one through here door with a 303 i've heard it dropped on the the spot but that was before my time and you know how stories can change

I'm always looking for hunting partners I hunt everything up here Walrus, Baloga whales caribou, muskox, wolfs, wolverine ,norwhales even moose

How far inland do you have to go to get musk-ox? I thought they were further west around Baker. A musk-ox skull would nicely offset my cape buff.

My last polar bear hunt was two years ago and I used a remington model 700 .308 we had to use a harpoon as will cause we where on the pack ice. It was swimming under the ice My cousin and I where running after the bear jumping ice to ice he had the harpoon and I had the rifle we finally got to the bear and it was right under us coming up for air. When it came out of the water the bear had his mouth open like it was ready to attack I told my cousin to harpoon it but he told me to shoot it first so I shot then he finally harpooned it on the neck. We had to use a boat to put the bear on the ice. the bear was a male 11 feet long. Hope this year I won't get that close.

That is one of the best hunting stories I have ever heard.

WOW, what an adventure.

So how has the hunting been since this thread started? Any new stories for us?

Hunting has been slow for me right now as i deslocated my knee in a snowmobile accident over a month ago.

other then that it was great mostly caribous over the winter and in summer we are hunting Baluga whales and they have been plentyful.
