Polaris big boss 6x6

I had an early 2 cycle one with a metal box....horrible gas mileage...worse than horrible...would go anywhere...nice smooth ride....plastics in the cooling system became brittle and leaked causing a overheat and the motor seized...plastics in the pull start also wore out and the fenders cracked to hell in cold weather...broke the front springs...always owned honda before and since

I’m thinking not all people have experienced the same as you. I am still running my original axles and ujoints with about 5800 miles (yes miles) of which about half would’ve been hard miles! Use your noggin and pretty well any machine will treat ya well

Using your noggin helps, but no amount of experience can replace quality. Polaris' are ok machines for the average person working around the farm or riding mild to moderate trails, but if you're consistently "riding it like it's stolen" they simply don't hold up.

They're lower quality machines built to meet a lower price point. The old saying applies....you get what you pay for.

How stuck are you on having a box on the back? Longer machines are a PITA with their larger turning radius and increased weight when riding with others on standard ATV's. Rather annoying for the whole group to constantly wait for the guys with long and heavy machines.

Id opt for a better quality 4 wheel ATV with a clutch kit, lift kit, and 27-28" Mud Lite XTR's aired up to 1.5-2 PSI and just skid the moose out....

That's actually what I'm currently running. Keeping up with the group isn't a worry since my "group" is in the 60s and 70s and we'll pretty easy to keep up with. I'm currently using a 850xp and it's a hell of a machine.

No doubt!

Horses for courses, though, right? If you need a jack of all trades, then you're probably already set. If you need an emphasis on hauling, traction and/or flotation, then a 6x6 is hard to beat.
