Police armourer job in Ottawa - closes 3 Aug

Are all sergeant at arms allowed to have prohibited firearms?? Or was this a special case??
Was this his ex service pistol or just a commercial version??
When issued guns at work the person can have prohibited class. Police officers do not need a pal. A _non sworn employee_ would need restricted class.

The most common example is the cbsa who are issued a prohibited px4.

So all sergant at arms are, well, armed?? Lol
I know they can be issued prohibited firearms for work, I was just wondering if the 5946 was his choice or just what he was given.

I don't have an inside scoop and if I did, I wouldn't be telling, sorry.

There were some stories circulating at the time that a number of glocks were procured for the service... Does that mean they had a

That may or may not be how things are now. Likely not, based on this posting.

Vickers was as a retired member and since the 5946 is there "duty firearm" the RCMP would have authorized it for use/possession. Many police services who are on the US border, often travel for training with Cdn policer services and the local police chief authorizes them to carry and use there duty firearms while in Canada. If you want to carry in your local area, go ask you local police chief to authorize it.
