Police Auction Pistols?

All police firearms in Ontario are destroyed when they become surplus.

BC, as well. Even brand new, never-issued guns are destroyed when new ones are ordered.

As far as non-issued (i.e., turned in to police by widows, for example, without asking for its destruction) can, occasionally, be re-tasked to the police department. Some departments get replacement Remmy 870's this way. Anything else not suitable for re-tasking gets destroyed. Period.

Look at it this way: if the Canadian Forces destroys half the world's supply of Browning Hi Powers, that means the other half, the one we own, becomes more valuable. They are doing the public a favor by not dumping their old guns and creating a huge oversupply.

And yes, I'm gritting my teeth when I say this. It's sarcasm, kids. The truth of all that destruction is that it's ecologically irresponsible, wasteful, and truly stupid. Do they crush police cars when they're done with them?

Let's see.... 19000 Hi Powers at saaayy 300 bucks each... = 5.7million dollars. Aww shucks that's only 63.3 Duffys or 22.8 Harbs. Very well, off to the smelter with them then.
