Many many companies offer a government or military discount, or CAA discount, or a student discount, or Club Superfriends discount... why shouldn't Glock offer a special deal to their primary customers??

It's all prejudicial, in a society that is trying to remove it.
It's price breaks based on occupation...If a company did that based on skin color there would be hell to pay.....
 
Privately owned company can do whatever they want. You don't like it, buy somewhere else... In all likelyhood Glock is extending the offer and that one company is enterprising enough to advertise this. The bottom line is it will sell firearms for them, their markup might not be as high but volume speaks for itself. Many privately owned companies extend government pricing to government employees, the logic being if they use it at work they are more likely to buy the same item for themselves. It's just a business practice... If it upset's you so much, Depot is only about 6 months (without pay), then you can work the silly shifts dealing with crap all the time...

The way I see it; PO is doing no different then any other business.

They offer discounted Glocks to LEO's/Emergency services; what different is it, when the parts counter at a car dealership giving a non-dealer mechanic "shop rate" for parts? Or when auto manufactures offers a "friends and family" discount on cars to friends and family of their autoworkers? (ie. Ford's X-plan).

The company selects a certain group that they want to offer discounts to and it's not prejudice on race, religion, creed, colour. It's their perogotive (and to be honest, it makes good business sense).

PO specifically targets LEO/Mil. If they can convince enough small fish (individuals) that Glocks are good (and cheap), they (the induviduals) may convince the bigger fish (police services/Military purchasers) to buy mass quantities.
 
coltfan, I don't want to hijack the thread by getting into a debate about the social reprocussions of occupational-based discounts... I made my position clear earlier in the thread... Glock makes weapons for Mil/Police, it makes sense for them to give a good rate to members of these forces, many places give discounts for mil - dropzone for one... hell, miltec just sent me a few bottles of some of the best gun oil made, for free, because they love the troops... want the discount, put your ass on the line! :p

On a related note, UPS brought me my bundle of joy today... I am the proud new owner of a OD Glock 17! My first handgun :D

I was in Afghanistan when the Liberals brought out that handgun ban garbage, I was so mad at being on the other side of the world fighting for freedom and democracy while those jokers were trying to subvert the same principals at home. I promised myself that when I got back one of the first things I'd do was renew my FAC / PAL (it had expired a couple of years back) and get myself a Glock. The easy part is done, the hard part (waiting for my ATT to process) has begun... and I have 500rnds in the safe right now!! :mad:

Police Ordnance has been great to deal with and are hightly recommend! UPS wasn't as good but a call to customer service fixed that, today they called my cell and I ran home from work to meet the driver, as the previous two times I had missed him and he didn't leave a notice, I started to think they left it on the porch and it got stolen...

Do me a favour. Go to your phone and call Jo. Ask him if they can sell new Glocks to civilians under the terms of their distribution agreement.

"Devide"? LEO's are citizens... and unless they are MP or RCMP, they are civvies too. Like has already been mentioned, privately owned company can choose to offer "special pricing" to Glocks user/customer base.

If people are bothered by this "special pricing" for emerg svcs, they can choose to shop elsewhere

OT question here.
With the well known cult like following of Glock owners, and their inabililty to acknowledge the existense of other quality handguns. Can they be considered ZOMBIES?:eek:
 
If it makes some of you "civies" happy, I have been serving in the military for almost 24 years and I didn't buy a Glock from Police Ordnance. And I don't get free housing and I do pay all the income and GST taxes you guys do.;) :D :D

Yes , I understand that, but quite often LEO's only hang out with LEO's because they each put the other.....awww, never mind
I'm out before the real flaming starts, that and I'm not good enough with the written word to convey my thoughts clearly enough for all to understand the point I wish to make....

I have dealt with an affiliate of PO...(a posting member here ) and have had my Glock serviced by PO.....top notch all the way around

I in no way,shape or form, was trying to slam or bring unwanted attention to PO.

"Putz!" Funny, I get called that at work all the time! Yeah, Glock's are good guns! I get the same negative reports on them at work all the time. We carry Smith but I would personally prefer to carry a Glock (or that other decent piece, the SIG).
