Policy of carrying enemy small arms in Canadian Army,

I knew one Canadian fellow who rode motorcycle dispatch in Europe in WW 2 and he said that he carried a M1 Carbine that he got from an American who no longer had a use for it. A lot easier to manipulate than an Enfield on a bike. Ammo was readily available from the quartermaster.

My grandfather (Royal Engineers, 3rd Beach Group) told me he picked up a K98K after he landed on Salerno. He said he liked it better since the sight allowed you to see the range indication from the top or bottom. He also had a Luger from Sicily but lost both when he was wounded.
