Yup.

I could tell you yarns of the disgraced cop from the Vancouver Mulligan era owning the hotel with bribe money, ex-hookers shacked up with loggers as their "wives", the "mad Russian" and others.

It was a backwater inthe 1950s and people didn't ask too many questions either.

What the adults didn't realize was that a kid remembers a lot. A heckuva lot.

Being 100% Polish, I've sometimes wondered what it is about my culture that seems to breed more that its fair share of this type of personality? Is it genetic, is it born out of history? It seems to be especially common in the generation that experienced the war.
