Saw these Polish "M1948"(Mosin M44 style) .22 trainers on a US website. 200 US bucks a pop(+ import costs), but you would sure be the only kid on the block with one! Has anyone seen or handled one of these? I sure would like to get one!

Eh, I'll stick with the Mossbergs.:)

Not very pretty are they? They look like 91/30 length actions stuck in M44 stocks.

You go ahead and buy them up, my interest level could not get lower if it tried.

There was a posting about these on gunboards. Apparently they're nice accurate little plinkers. Polish, communist era trainers.

IMortation is going to run about $200 assuming you go with Questar, (I dont know anyone else who does it), You'd be spending close to $500 to get it too your door. To me it's not worth $500 but I'm not much of a Soviet era collector. At any rate you'd have a neat little oddity, and i's make a nice addition to a trainer collection.

I heard of them long ago. They are unique in a sense, but nothing special as a gun. I bet they are based on some TOZ rimfire action. As far as I am concerned, not worth it.

Lol Ollie ;)
Here's a review by a fellow who picked up one from the above link:

Sounds like a nice little shooter.

Action is based on the earlier KBKS Wz 31, a .22 derivative of the Polish M98 type rifles.

I have one, and it doesn't look anywhere near as bad those pictured.

One thing to keep in mind NEVER DRY FIRE ONE. Unless you never plan to put a cartridge in the chamber. The firing pin will peen the chamber, requiring a gunsmith to clean it up.

I think they'd make a nice piece for a collection ...but to pay for all the red-tape isn't worth it.
I'll be keeping an eye out for them at gunshows and shops , now that I seen the photos....
