Hi CGN'ers,

I'm dead set on getting a Polish M44 Mosin, but have trouble finding any of these in Canada. I know they were imported in the past, are they still around? I would appreciate it if someone could point me in the right direction? Thanks.

Watch the ads. There were some brand new ones imported at one time and every once in a while one comes up for sale. Bought a "Hungarian" one from SIR, a few years back. Big number 11 on the barrel. :D

I got mine used from Epps.

Have seen several on the EE between $250-$350.

I was in your position awhile ago, and they are not easy to find. Most people who have them aren't interested in selling. :p

I did put mine up for sale temporarily but decided to bubba it into the gun I wanted instead! :p

And yes I love it!

Thanks a lot guys! I'll be sure to look for them in those places. BTW Grizzly, I think that the big number 11 designates your Mosin M44 as Polish, not Hungarian. I could be wrong, but I don't think so. Here's a link where I got the information from: http://www.mosinnagant.net/global%20mosin%20nagants/Polish-M44.asp

That was his point ;) They are awesome rifles by the way. I have one with a side mounted tasco scope (thanks bubba) that I gave to my uncle on permanent loan. What a moose slayer that thing is.

I stumbled on to mine completely by chance at Gagnon's, $300. Bubba removed the bayonet, painted the stock black and painted the front sight post flourescent yellow, but other than that it's awesome. I actually kinda like the black, and the way it's wearing. Haven't had a chance to take it to a proper range, but it's sure fun to shoot! I've seen at least a half dozen different M44s on the EE since I bought mine, so if you want one, that's your best bet

I have 2 unissued ones, a 1954 and a 1955 and nope they are not for sale:p
Joce

I've bought two in the past 365 days for 300 bucks. One is still in original unissued cosmoline - the other was MINT with just a few rounds fired. I shoot the one and the other was an investment.

I also sold mine several months ago for the prices stated in this thread. I also regret it. One of the most superb condition and fit and finish milsurps that I owned. I originally got it 25yrs ago dressed in cosmo.

I picked up a mint Polish M44 carbine that was on consignment at my range 3yrs(?) ago. I did not know what is was at the time but loved the feel and look of it. For $275, I thought it was a good deal.
I know a little more about MN's now and glad I bought it on a whim. The only two features on my rifle that I don't think are OEM are the polished bayo and bent bolt handle. I really gotta shoot it more.......:D
If you can find one...buy it. They're awesome to shoot!
