Hey guys,

I thought I would post some pictures of my newest find, a Polish "Radom" VIS 35 9mm pistol. As of this point I do not know much about it, aside that it was manufactured during the German occupation during the second world war in Radom, Poland. From my understanding many of these pistols were issued to the SS and German airborne, and were also widely used by Polish underground during the uprisings and fighting in the ghettos of Warsaw, Lvov, Krakow etc... If anyone has any more information on the pistol or its use, PLEASE let me know! I am really, really curious and interested in learning more.

There are three or four variations of the pistol, I believe this pistol is a grade II piece, dating roughly 1940-1941/42.

One thing I have noticed is how excellent the quality seems. Its a really solid pistol, and points exceptionally well. Here are some pictures, shown alongside 1943 dated German 9mm ammunition. All numbers match.

Well, you did it again, you made me feel empty and wanting to buy another milsurp to make me feel better, are you happy now ? :D

A very nice example, looks like she did back in '41. You even have '42 dated ammo (how the heck did you come across that ?).

I don't know much about these Polish pistols but they are reputed to be extremely well made and highly desirable as a collector piece.

Now, I do trust you have been out to the range already and that you are typing a range report up as I type this ? :D

I have one, and for a military pistol with 1930s military sights, its a very good shooter. Your Vis 35 looks very nice indeed. Now you need a German stamped holster to go with it.

And yes - where did you get that '42 dated German ammo?

Range day is Sunday for me :p I will definitely give it a few mags (not with the original ammo!).

The ammo I picked up off the EE. Very cool stuff. I have not (and wont) fire it, as the box is complete. Anyone here speak German and can read the label?

And a holster would be really cool, but prices are very high. From what Ive seen originals are a few hundred dollars.

What "grade" or "variant" is your VIS? I would be very interested to see pictures!

Upon further inspection the barrel has WaA623 on the other side of the barrel. A quick search turned up three results:

WaA623 660 Steyr-Daimler-Puch Steyr (AT) 1939 - 40

WaA623 bnz Steyr-Daimler-Puch Steyr (AT) 1940 - 45

WaA623 Radom (PL)

I have heard that many of these barrels were subcontracted out to Steyr in an attempt to eliminate completed pistols falling into the hands of the resistance (which didnt completely work). My question is how do I tell which WaA623 would apply to my piece? Is it a Steyr barrel or a Radom barrel? My guess is Steyr as by the time my pistol was made these changes had been introduced... right?

Could be the twin of yours. It has the decocking lever and the FB logo grips. Plus the Waffen Amts. No slot for the shoulder stock. I believe its considered a type ll or lll. Shoots really well but the sights are what you would expect for a pistol designed in 1935.

I picked up a WW2 German stamped leather holster for mine this summer. Cost me over $200. I'm looking for a repro Polish one. How many mags do you have?

My father has one of these as well. His is missing the right side grip panel (has a bubba homemade replacement that was put on before he bought it) and the finish is not nearly as nice as yours. He was thinking about getting it refinished as the originality is already mostly gone.

Anyone have a source for replacement parts (grips, mags, etc) ?

Nice score! I'm definitely jealous of that one.

Adam

Thanks guys,

As for spare parts, try Marstar or ebay. Luckily I found a spare box of 9mm in my safe, so it will get a (light) workout tomorrow. I cant wait to shoot it, for some reason I really, really like this pistol. Just the way it feels, points and the quality.

If anyone is intrested in a group buy about $700 a pistol. 100 pistols minimum order Radom factory will make them

Murat do you know if Radom still makes the repro shoulder stock for sale or if they make a repro Polish holster (the two spare magazine one). Thanks.
