Polish "Radom" VIS 35 pistol - lots of pictures

It is the Type I C-block with slot for stock that is in my previously posted pics.

I have seen a few pics of Polish soldiers with the VIS. There are a couple in "the Radom VIS Pistol" book I have, but are poor quality. I can't recall where I saw the pics, most likely on Polish sites.

This on is a good one:

Its in Polish, but you can use the translater in your browser or just picture read :)

That one model with the wood grips is the latest model. Built at Styer in Austria after they moved the parts and equipement from Poland. Apprently they lost their ability to make the VIS bakelite grips.

Styer had some pretty strong SS connections and used slave labour extensively.

I have read somewhere that Steyr used inmates from the Mauthausen Gusen concentration camp. Any truth to this?

Pistolenpatronen=Pistol cartridge.
Very nice..

I speak German but I'm not an expert on the abbreviations on the box. I believe "Pistolenpatronen 08 m. E." is pistol cartridge for Luger P08 with Iron Core (mit Eisenkern) I seem to recall seeing m. E. on some original 7.92x57 German Ammo I have.

I have sold my Radoms, my last one was a A block 2nd Alphabet run (Gr III) green phosphate with brown grips (VIS logo). A fine piece for sure but had to go...

Stoogie,

Thanks for the picture of the single rune on the bbl. Did a bit of research since last & I can find no documented connection between the Radom production & the Waffen SS. All pistol types were used by all armed forces branches from Heer to KriegsMarine & we've all seen various pictures of German soldiers with various pistols...Sure enough the VIS 35 was a favorite with SS troops but such were the 9mm Browning, the 1922 & the CZ 27 (as a secondary sidearm) So until there's good documentation on this connection I'll say that this ``rune`` is probably an assembly mark made at the factory...

On the German military pistol ammo, I have various collector grade boxes w/ various WWII dates. Even have a 1917 box...

Mk

The best Polish book on VIS is the "Typy Broni i Uzbroienia"popuraly known as "TBU Series" it was published in early 70s. Very good data. It was republished in the 90s with political corrections made by new Solidarity inspired Idiots it is not as good.
I have never seen the original for sale. The only copies that I read were from liberies in Poland. However to even find it nowadays in the Libery in Poland is an extreme luck due to new political system pacifist ideas it is 20 years since Poland lost is Balls. Good Military collections were put into storages in Liberies.
If you ever in Poland visit Libery it the Book is Three, get a libery card and borrow that book and never come back with it. Also on the way grab Wilnicewicz (one of Vis Designers" memouires they have tons of insight on Vis design, his thoughts ides etc

Just curious Kidvett as you seem to be very, very knowledgeable on this sort of thing - Are the "deaths head" K98s and such fake aswell? Or were some arms marked as such?

This is the last design of VIS

From Wiki

"The PM-63 RAK (short for Ręczny Automat Komandosów—"hand-held automatic commando firearm"

Just the name makes me want one!

PM-63 I shoot one when I was 16, It is a bit larger then a pistol but shoots like a sawing machine. It went big zzzip and 25 bullets landed all over target area.
I did not have a chance to fire another magazin from it but what my Father tells me it is quite acurate in single shoots upto 75m

According to Wilnicewicz biography he had first scatched the litlle subgun in late 30s. Compleat design he had time to finish in early 50s

Hope I'm not hijacking, but Kidvett knows his stuff, definitely vouch for this man:)

On another Radom note, here is a pic of my Great Uncle during the last days of the war in his village. Note his
I love the Radom. a great pistol.
